loki comics
let's begin reading loki comics
Hello, I am a firm believer that if you want to get into Loki comics you should not be looking to read Agent of Asgard first. I think it is one of, if not the worst, point to start out when it comes to learning about the character. So I'm making this because I want to help people get into his comics and because I know comics might seem really confusing for new readers. While the list itself may seem long, I did try to focus on what I figured to be the most important comics for him.

starting points and more!
First Appearances:—Journey into Mystery: #85 (1952)—Journey into Mystery: #88 (1952) Loki’s second appearance, in this we learn that and Loki are siblings.—Avengers #1 (1963) Loki decides to exact his revenge on Thor; it causes Iron Man, Antman, the Wasp, Thor (and later the Hulk) to team up starting the avengers.—Journey into Mystery #113 (1952) B story. We learn about Loki as a child. This is a oneshot—Thor: Son of asgard: Modern day retelling of Loki and Thor (as well as balder, sif, amora, and brunnhilde) as young kids. The issues that feature loki are #1 - #9.—Loki (2010) #1 - #4: Also called the trials of loki. Another version of Loki's origin story, but told when he was an adult.—Thor: First Thunder #1 - #4: Modern day retelling of the first Thor comic with Loki now included in this story.—Thor (1966) #431 - #432 Loki formulates a plan to defeat Thor, one that includes kidnapping a young boy. Thor and Loki fight, only one is the victor.Ok, while Loki is not in these comics, it is recommended that you read the X-Men: Onslaught event. However that is not an event I personally would make anyone touch and you can skip it if you want. The only reason I say that is because marvel made it almost impossible to read the full event because there are still issues missing on the app. If you’re so worried about not knowing anything about the next storyline i recommend reading Thor (1966) #501 and #502 and you should be good.

—Journey into Mystery #503 - # 513: The gods are all but “dead”. They believe themselves to be mortal after Thor dies and Asgard is destroyed. Loki is reborn. This is called the Lost Gods Arc.The next issues/books to read after this arc is Avengers (1996) #1 - #12 and Thor (1998) Loki is involved heavily in the avengers comic and in Thor (1998) Loki is reborn after he died in Avengers (1996).—Amazing Spider-Man #503 to #504: while you can skip it, I don’t recommend it. It’s a very good story that shows Loki as a caring father as both he and Spiderman save Loki’s daughter–Tess Black. One of my favorite Loki stories ever.—Loki (2004): Loki has a dream of being king. All dreams come to an end.—Thor (1998) #80 - #85: The time for Ragnarok has come for the asgardians once again (recommend reading is the avengers: disassembled event, however it is not necessary, you can just focus on thor because that is what I did at first you won't be lost if you skip the rest of the event.)
a new era begins!

—Thor (2007) #1 - #600: no there are not 600 comics to read, it's just 11 issues. This begins a whole new start to the asgardians. The next few comics focus on the Siege event. While Loki is heavily involved with it all, you don’t have to read the full storyline. Here’s my recommended reading for a shortlist that you can pay attention to. You can look up the rest of the event on Marvel unlimited if you want to read them all! Dark Reign: The Cabal #1, Thor (2007) #600 - #609, Siege: Loki (2010) #1, Siege (2009) #4Aftermath of the Siege event for Thor: Thor (2007) #610 - 614 Loki is also in those comics as well and it is recommended that you read them!—A wild kid loki appears kicking off the official brand new start to Loki’s character. Here is the beginning of this full storyline. Thor (2007) #615 - #621, The Mighty Thor (2011) #1 - #6, Journey Into Mystery (2011) #622 - #636.—This next part is called the exiled event, but I call this the saddest loki death event ever. This is a very crucial storyline to read before you begin Agent of Asgard. Here is the full list: Exiled 1 (2011), New Mutants (2009) #42 - #43, Journey Into Mystery (2011) #637- #645, The Mighty Thor (2011) #18 - #22—Next up is Young Avengers (2013) #1 - #15 This comic shows us how Kid Loki was transformed into the Adult Loki we see in Agent of Asgard.Al Ewing finally takes on Loki’s character here is the proper reading list for Agent of Asgard is:—Loki: Agent of Asgard #1 - #5—Original Sin: Thor & Loki – The Tenth Realm #1 - #5 (there is a whole reading order for this, you don’t have to pay attention to it, just focus on the issues that feature Loki, Thor, and Angela. Also the issues to read are labeled like 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, …, etc.)—Loki: Agent Of Asgard #6 - #11 This ties into the Avengers and X-men axis event. You really don’t have to go looking for the full plotline to read this entire event, but I will provide a link for marvel unlimited if you so choose.—Loki: Agent of Asgard #12 to #17 This is a secret wars tie-in. Like I said in the other points, you don’t have to read it, but if you want the full plotline to the event here is the link to it. It basically begins an entirely new era for the marvel comics universe.
after the aoa
*Recommended reading list (in order+) after Agent of Asgard:(+they’re in order for the most part. Maybe one or two of the issues can be interchangeable with each other in regards to timeline order.)—Vote Loki #1 to #4 the art style isn't great—Mighty Thor (2015) #1 - #23 While loki is in some of these i just highly recommend reading the whole thing—Doctor Strange (2015) #381 - #385 Loki tricks strange into allowing him to become the sorcerer supreme. this takes place for a couple of issues.—The Amazing Spider-Man #795—Unbeatable Squirrel Girl (2015) #27 - #30—Mighty Thor (2015) #700 - #706—Thor (2018) #1 - #6 Loki is no longer the sorcerer supreme by this time.—Asgardians of the Galaxy #1 - #5 (Asgardians of the Galaxy begins after you read Thor #4)—Avengers (2018) #1 - #6—Free Comic Book Day 2018 #1 the best loki has ever looked in a long while.—Avengers (2018) #7 - #12—Infinity Wars I’m going to give you the link to this storyline because it is so long and so boring to read (in my opinion).—Thor (2018) #7 - #11—Asgardians of the Galaxy #6 - #10 this leads to the official death of kid loki.
—War of the realms I am going to give you the official link to the build up as well as the link to read the full proper storyline of this event. I don't typically like events but I did like this one and would read it again.—War of the Realms: Omega (2019) #1 this is the start of the king loki era, and then it immediately goes downhill—King Thor #1 - #4—Loki (2019) #1 - #5 this series gets cancelled, but it had promise in the same way my dad said he would show back up in my life.—Thor (2020) Loki shows up in quite a few issues.—The Mighty Valkyries #1 - #4 (It came out after Thor #9, but it heavily follows Jane Foster’s Valkyrie run).—Defenders: Beyond (2022) #1 - #5 (this takes place after the Thor 750 issue and also Agent of Asgard I recommend reading both before you read this comic and then turn back to finish the rest of the cates' thor (2020) run.)—Loki (2023) One of the best modern loki comics written. It's really one of my top five now.—Starlet Witch (2023) #8 I think people who have a problem with this comic are boring and lame and hate fun. Just my two cents.—Immortal Thor (2023) I'm personally not liking the way loki is being written in this comic, but it seems to be a fan favorite. Do not let me influence your thoughts, just read for yourself and have fun.

notes from the creator
Hi so obviously this is not the full extensive list of every loki comic out there. I did my best to shorten it so not to overwhelm new readers who want to take the jump to get into loki comics. I will do my best to update periodically and add more comics that I deem fit better suited for newer audiences or I think I missed. Have fun reading :)My twitter is lilatrevsMy tumblr is lilatreuscreated: nov 17, 2023last update: nov 17, 2023
